Job Purpose :
The Unilever Legal Function aims to protect and support the company by providing objective advice and creative legal solutions. Comprising approximately 500 lawyers and specialists worldwide, it is structured with corporate expertise Leads and General Counsels overseeing five Business Groups.
Intellectual Property (IP) is a key corporate expertise function led by Unilever’s Chief Intellectual Property Officer. The Trade Mark Team manages global trademark matters, offering legal advice, risk management, and creative solutions related to trademark and copyright law, including searching, clearance, filing, renewals, oppositions, infringement issues, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and domain name management.
The Legal Powerhouse, established in 2023, includes around 80 legal associates and paralegals across Bangalore, Barcelona, and Mexico City. It provides structured services to legal and business teams. We are currently building an IP expertise hub in Barcelona and are seeking a Trade Mark Paralegal to support our Senior Trade Mark Counsel.
Core Responsibilities :
* Trade Mark Searches: Conduct screening searches, analyze results, and advise on trademark availability.
* Trade Mark Applications: Prepare instructions for external law firms for filing and prosecution.
* Trade Mark Renewals: Support annual renewal processes, coordinating with legal and business partners.
* Evidence Collation: Prepare evidence packages for trademark renewal support.
* Trade Mark Watching: Monitor third-party applications for potential infringements.
* Trade Mark Enforcement: Assist with disputes, investigations, and pre-action correspondence.
* Business Partnering: Manage legal requests related to authorizations.
* Trade Mark Recordals: Support IP asset integration and divestiture activities.
* Knowledge Management: Maintain our trade mark precedent bank.
* Database Management: Assist with IP case management system updates.
* Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
About You :
* University degree in law.
* Experience in trade mark portfolio management and IP law.
* Experience within an in-house legal team, preferably in FMCG.
* Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive, adaptable, eager to learn, and capable of handling varied workloads.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, Copilot, and IP technologies.
* Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
