Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Machine Learning Engineer to drive the development and deployment of advanced ML solutions within a medical device environment. This role will lead the design of scalable models, guide technical strategy, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define and lead the machine learning strategy aligned with product and business objectives
- Architect scalable ML systems for integration into medical device platforms
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and data scientists
- Establish best practices for model development, validation, and deployment
- Design, build, and optimise machine learning and deep learning models
- Work with structured and unstructured healthcare data (e.g., imaging, sensor, clinical data)
- Implement end‑to‑end ML pipelines, including data ingestion, preprocessing, training, and monitoring
- Ensure robust model performance, interpretability, and reliability in production environments
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Ensure ML systems comply with medical device regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
- Support documentation, validation, and audit processes for regulatory submissions
- Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to align development with compliance requirements
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, clinical, and engineering teams to translate requirements into ML solutions
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to integrate models into devices
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
- Stay current with advancements in AI/ML, particularly in healthcare and medical devices
- Identify opportunities to enhance product capabilities through AI‑driven features
- Drive experimentation and continuous improvement of models and processes
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with leadership responsibilities
- Proven experience developing and deploying ML models in production environments
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python) and experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with data engineering and building scalable ML pipelines
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices (version control, CI/CD, testing)
Preferred
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or other regulated industries
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, GxP)
- Experience with medical imaging, signal processing, or real‑world clinical data
- Background in MLOps and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong leadership and decision‑making capabilities
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value
- High level of ownership and accountability
