What Impact You'll Make
As an Electrical Drive Train Commissioning Technical Support Engineer for the Offshore Wind Platform (Haliade X), you will be a key contributor to the successful execution of projects by providing technical oversight for the complete electrical drive train (HV/MV cables, GIS, transformer, converters, and generator) from supplier manufacturing to offshore operations. You will validate asset reception, de‐risk technical issues, prepare and execute onshore and offshore commissioning, and collaborate with design and project operations teams to deliver fully validated commissioning test plans. Your role ensures technical and EHS excellence throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Lead technical and operational improvements in collaboration with engineering team.
Support creation and maintenance of commissioning documentation based on the latest engineering test plans, electrical machinery standards, and project‐specific improvements, ensuring EHS compliance.
Collaborate with Package Managers to plan and execute the commissioning strategy for all technical aspects of the project.
Define required tooling and spare parts in coordination with the purchasing team to ensure project readiness.
Contribute to the development and improvement of commissioning tooling with the Engineering department.
Build and maintain technical relationships with customers to clarify interfaces and support partnership during commissioning.
Provide technical support onsite and remotely to onshore/offshore teams, manage defects, and coordinate with Design Engineering for investigations.
Drive continuous process improvements, focusing on safety, cost optimization, digitalization, and data analytics.
Qualifications
Degree in electronic and/or Electrical Engineering.
Experience working with electrical drive trains, including generators and transformers, in industrial or energy sectors.
Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
Willingness to travel 20–30% annually between the United States and the United Kingdom.
What Will Make You Stand Out
Experience in wind turbine commissioning and project preparation, including supplier management and manufacturing line coordination.
Experience in technical support for wind turbines and in leading multidisciplinary teams (design, suppliers, quality, and project).
Hands‐on experience with design or commissioning of power converters, permanent magnet generators, high‐voltage transformers, and medium‐voltage switchgear.
Strategic and systems thinker, with the ability to set vision, align teams, assess trade‐offs and risks, and drive effective decision‐making to achieve successful project outcomes.
