Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager (SAM) to join our Reputation and Crisis practice in Barcelona. This role plays a critical function in maintaining senior-level advisory capability across crisis communications, corporate reputation and stakeholder engagement. The position will lead strategic workstreams for key clients while supporting complex issues and crisis advisory mandates across sectors including energy, industrial, corporate and entertainment. The SAM will act as a senior operational lead across multiple accounts, ensuring high-quality delivery while providing strategic counsel to clients and supporting integrated communication planning. The role will also work closely with the Director of Crisis and the Head of Energy & Industrial, contributing to high-impact advisory projects including crisis preparedness, executive communications, spokesperson training and reputation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Crisis & Reputation Advisory
Support the development and execution of crisis communication strategies and issues management plans for complex client situations. Contribute to risk assessments, scenario planning and crisis preparedness programs, and develop crisis materials including holding statements, Q&As, reactive messaging and internal communications.
* Account Leadership & Client Management
The Senior Account Manager will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in Barcelona, fostering collaboration and leadership in Barcelona ́s Team. The role requires someone capable of operating with confidence and independence, anticipating both local teams and client needs, identifying opportunities and ensuring smooth and effective delivery across accounts. This person will lead the day‐to‐day management of key corporate reputation and crisis accounts in Barcelona, ensuring strategic alignment and consistently high‐quality delivery across all workstreams. The role requires a high degree of autonomy and accountability, taking full ownership of assigned client relationships and acting as a trusted senior advisor who can provide proactive counsel and strategic recommendations. This person will be responsible for driving the development and execution of communication strategies, ensuring projects move forward efficiently and with strong attention to detail.
* Corporate & Reputation Strategy
Support the development and implementation of corporate reputation strategies, stakeholder engagement programs and executive positioning initiatives. Contribute to corporate narrative development and strategic messaging aligned with business objectives.
* Media & Stakeholder Relations
Manage relationships with corporate, business and regional media, particularly within the Catalan and Spanish ecosystem. Support media strategies, briefings, spokesperson preparation and interview coordination.
* Crisis Training & Executive Communications
Contribute to spokesperson training sessions and crisis simulation exercises. Support executive communications including leadership messaging and sensitive stakeholder communications.
* Multimarket Coordination
Collaborate with EMEA and global Edelman teams, ensuring seamless coordination across markets and alignment with international strategies.
Experience & Requirements
o Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate communications, reputation management or crisis communications.
o Experience in PR agencies or corporate communication departments of international organizations.
o Fluency in Spanish and English (C1/C2). Catalan required to effectively engage with regional media, stakeholders and local authorities.
o Strong understanding of corporate reputation, crisis communications and issues management.
o Proven ability to provide senior client counsel and manage complex communication environments.
o Established experience working with corporate, business and regional media in Spain and Catalonia.
o Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced agency environment.
