We are supporting one of our largest global clients and are looking for an experienced Freelance Energy Projects Consultant based in Spain to join an internal strategic energy team.
\n
This is a remote-first role with occasional travel, offering the opportunity to work on complex energy infrastructure projects in a fast‑paced, international environment.
\n
Role Overview The consultant will support the development and execution of energy infrastructure solutions across a large logistics and industrial portfolio, with a strong focus on:
\n
- Microgrids
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Distributed energy technologies
A key element of the role is contributing to a Global Energy Resilience & Power Intelligence Program, a strategic initiative designed to embed power feasibility, standardized design approaches, and data‑driven insights into site selection and project development processes.\n
The engagement is structured as an annual freelance contract, working closely with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners.

Key Responsibilities
\n
Project Development & Strategy
\n
- Support the identification, evaluation, and development of energy projects (microgrids, BESS, solar, and related technologies)
- Contribute to project strategies aligned with operational and business objectives
- Identify and assess technical solutions for diverse site conditions
\n
Energy Modelling & Feasibility Analysis
\n
- Develop and maintain energy and financial models, primarily using Gridcog
- Perform technical and economic feasibility assessments
- Support decision‑making through data‑driven analysis and scenario modelling
\n
Energy Resilience & Power Intelligence Program
\n
- Contribute to power intelligence tools integrating grid assessment and centralized utility data
- Support standardization of power assessment methodologies, reports, and data libraries
- Assist in developing automated sizing tools and standardized power solution packages to optimize design, cost, and delivery timelines
\n
Project Management
\n
- Act as internal project manager across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Coordinate timelines, milestones, stakeholders, and risks
- Ensure alignment between internal teams and external consultants
- Track progress and key deliverables
\n
Engineering Oversight
\n
- Prepare technical specifications (BESS, microgrids, EMS)
- Review and supervise detailed engineering delivered by external consultants
- Validate key design decisions and ensure technical quality and compliance
\n
Stakeholder Coordination
\n
- Collaborate with cross‑regional teams (EU focus, with global exposure)
- Interface with external consultants and technology partners
- Support coordination across multidisciplinary teams
\n
Innovation & Special Projects
\n
- Contribute to innovative initiatives, including grid interaction projects
- Support pilot xugodme projects and emerging energy technologies as required
\n
Key Deliverables
\n
- Energy models and feasibility assessments (Gridcog and Excel‑based)
- Project management documentation (timelines, trackers, status reports)
- Technical review and validation reports
- Strategic recommendations for energy project development
- Effective coordination across internal and external stakeholders
\n
Required Profile
\n
- Background in Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Proven experience with distributed energy resources (BESS, microgrids, solar, etc.)
- Strong analytical and energy modelling capabilities
- Project management experience in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic international setting
