Role overview:
The English Language Learning (ELL) division of Pearson is looking for a talented and motivated professional to join our growing organization as a QA Lead Engineer.
As a QA Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the robustness and reliability of our products, working closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders. You will lead our QAs, hands-on, to a quality driven mindset where we always put our customers, first, and proactively break our product to ensure that our customers get the best possible, bug free, experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead testing efforts across backend, frontend, mobile, and REST APIs.
2. Plan and lead software testing, setting priorities in collaboration with the POs – our teams are spread across the globe
3. Establish, lead, maintain and continuously improve a suite of robust testing processes throughout development, pre-production, and post-release phases.
4. Continuously enhance our automated testing suite, ensuring comprehensive coverage of critical system components.
5. Promote high degree of QA automation as part of a CI/CD pipelines.
6. Define, document and enforce best practice SDLC processes and standards.
7. Collaborate with developers, product owners, and customer success managers to deeply understand customer business and use cases.
8. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot defects and bugs, and working to resolve these issues in a timely manner
9. Be responsible for testing tools, including but not limited to Mocha, Java + Selenide, Selenium, React Testing Library, Playright, Cypress, and Postman.
10. Developing and executing test plans and test cases
11. Verify the functionality and performance of software products and applications
12. Developing and maintaining automated test scripts
13. Participating in code reviews and providing feedback on code quality and testability
14. Creating and maintaining automated test suites to increase efficiency and effectiveness
15. Participating in release management processes
Qualifications & Skills:
16. 6+ years of Agile ways of working, and software development cycle.
17. 6+ years of experience in automation suites and manual testing
18. ISTQB certification - Test Manager level – is a plus
19. Proactive, curious, and driven mindset with a passion for breaking and improving software.
20. Ability to deeply understand customer business needs and use cases to ensure software quality.
21. Must have strong Leadership skills to support QA team members, and identify/resolve QA challenges through mentoring and guidance,
22. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional remote teams.
23. Detail-oriented, analytical, and possess strong technical skills to ensure that the software meets the required quality standards
24. Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Java
25. Experience with Agile and team collaboration tools such as JIRA
26. Critical thinking skills to recommend original and productive ideas
27. Ability to work effectively with agility and resilience in a fast-paced environment
28. Ability to analyse data and information to identify patterns and trends that may indicate problems with the software
29. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage their time efficiently to meet project deadlines
30. Willing to learn innovative technologies and tools to stay up to date with the latest developments in software testing
