Overview
The Scientist I in the Assay Development department participates in the development projects by performing laboratory activities and contributing to experimental execution, data analysis, and project documentation, supporting activities from feasibility through validation.
Performs entry level professional laboratory work of a routine nature requiring application of general and specialized methods, techniques, and instruments. Performs duties in research and development including the ability to perform basic lab techniques and good laboratory documentation practices.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
1. Performs laboratory procedures and experiments
2. Communicates problems and progress to supervisor
3. May select appropriate experimental and analytical methods and define protocols
4. Schedules own tasks and activities in accordance with assignments and priorities
5. Detects deviations in results and/or potential problems, may recommend modification in protocols or standard methodology to define the causes of deviations and overcome problems.
6. Under the supervision and approval of his/her supervisor, writes laboratory procedures and understands existing Procedures and Methods
7. Compiles experimental data, performs calculations and prepares graphs to present and discuss them to his/her supervisor
8. Writes research papers, reports, reviews, and technical summaries
9. Monitor electronic or paper laboratory notebook making sure that all data is accurately recorded in accordance with guidelines and procedures
10. Must be capable of performing all duties required of a Specialist

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position
