The Senior Project Engineer - Civil is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination and control of Civil Engineering Works for a designated Project through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement and quality control based on Alkimos standards. The Senior Project Engineer is responsible in assisting the Construction Manager to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget and to the specified quality.
The Project
The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections, review safety documentation, and manage subcontractor compliance.
- Prepare and evaluate procurement packages, RFQs, and delivery strategies aligned with budget and project needs.
- Review and approve construction method statements and temporary works, promoting innovation and process improvements.
- Analyse and manage project schedules, critical paths, and milestones to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate construction engineering activities, ensuring QA compliance, documentation, and financial forecasting.
- Use digital engineering tools for planning, design review, and site coordination, promoting tech adoption on-site.
- Lead and manage engineering teams, set performance goals, and monitor team wellbeing.
- Ensure quality control through timely closure of Lots, NCRs, and implementation of ITPs.
- Monitor and control project costs through forecasting, activity tracking, and monthly reviews.
- Engage stakeholders, manage risks, and participate in governance processes to align with organisational goals.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Advanced planning, scheduling, and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in construction methods, safety, quality, and environmental systems.
- Financial and commercial acumen in forecasting and cost control.
- Competence in digital engineering tools and driving innovation.
Required Experience
- Strong experience in the delivery of large concrete structures (FRP works)
- Water retaining structures (water and waste tanks)
- Post tensioning of concrete precast structures
- Tilt-up panels and structural steel installation
