Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) requires broad Data Center knowledge with Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in as many specific fields as possible. The location for this job will be in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its leased/owned and operated Data Centers in India. It will provide leadership for a specific cluster of data center and across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers, Mumbai. Responsibilities include overall operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space, event management, incident management, problem management, change management, cost/contract management, and relationship management with landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction team, Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, Security team, and Logistics team in India. The position requires 24x7 on-call, scheduled weekend work support, rotating shift, and may involve multiple India locations. It will also be responsible for developing the team and leading them to every success.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Set and maintain the highest standard for safety and actively promote a world‑class safety culture
* Drive continuous improvement of performance metrics for large‑scale Data Centres across owned and co‑location sites, delivering agreed metrics
* Deliver 100% uptime on all customer‑supporting infrastructure
* Strategically plan and execute corrective and preventative maintenance on all mission‑critical infrastructure
* Manage strong technical teams, train and develop others to ensure operational excellence
* Deliver a portfolio of strategic projects on critical infrastructure
* Oversee build‑out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new regional locations
* Manage vendor performance with high standards, accountability, and regular performance reviews
* Implement risk management, adopting and planning corporate risk strategy
* Prepare for critical event response readiness, escalation/incident management, and customer‑impacting event recovery
* Work within complex organizational matrix and grow relationships with cross‑functional teams
Basic Qualifications
* 12+ years of management experience
* Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, CRAC units
* Experience with large‑scale mechanical and power systems
* Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of electrical engineering best practices including breaker coordination studies, switchgear sequencing, and NEC code
* Experience owning operation of a mission‑critical team or product
* Experience with large‑scale technical operations or compute farms
* Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
