Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs precision tune-ups and maintenance on HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance calls under general supervision
- Conduct routine precision tune-ups and maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories
- Inspect and perform limited diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns or callbacks
- Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed
- Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work
- Assist the Service Technician in servicing HVAC equipment and accessories
- Record all required information on a handheld device and complete forms and paperwork neatly and accurately; collect payment if necessary
- Communicate with dispatch to provide status updates while on duty
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
- Promote products and services to customers; relay replacement product sales leads to Sales/Service Coordinator
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are maintained and accounted for
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically
- Follow standard procedures and ensure the company vehicle is stocked
- Perform similar/other duties as needed
Health & Safety Roles and Responsibilities
- Report unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the supervisor immediately
- Report contraventions of legislation or company policy to the supervisor
- Correct substandard acts or conditions within area of control
- Use and maintain PPE as prescribed
- Never remove safety guards or devices
- Comply with company rules and procedures
- Operate equipment as prescribed by procedures
- Participate in safety initiatives and committees
- Report injuries or incidents promptly
- Provide input on safety initiatives to prevent exposures
- Do not perform acts that endanger others
- Keep safe and professional conduct in the workplace
- Work in compliance with applicable laws
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; HVAC training or certification preferred; 0 to 2 years of experience
- Valid licensing or certification as required by local laws
- EPA and safety certifications required
- Fundamentals of HVAC operation and related accessories
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
- Effective communication with customers; strong time-management and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Flexible hours and on-call availability
- Experience performing basic maintenance on HVAC equipment desirable
- Physical ability to stand, climb, and maneuver in attics/basements; climb ladders up to 300 lb load; lift up to 40 lb and carry up to 30 lb
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
