Health & Safety Senior Manager

Your main purposeEnsure full compliance with Spanish and European Health & Safety legislation across all establishments, including kitchens, housekeeping, maintenance, SPA, swimming pools, food & beverage, events, and offices, acting as the main point of contact with Labor Authorities, Health Authorities, Labor Inspections, and employee representatives.
Responsibilities
Lead hospitality-specific risk assessments covering ergonomics, manual handling, chemical products, work at height, biological risks, legionella control, thermal stress, and psychosocial risks, and integrate prevention into onboarding, training, procurement, hotel openings, and refurbishments.
Coordinate preventive activity planning across owned and managed hotels, supervising and coordinating internal and/or external prevention services and occupational health providers, including contractor and business activity coordination.
Manage the investigation of workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, and incidents with a strong focus on operational teams, and establish, analyze, and report KPIs related to accidents, absenteeism, and preventive compliance to senior management.
Define, implement, and oversee emergency and self-protection protocols, including evacuation plans and emergency drills, and lead internal and external audits, both legal and system-based (including ISO 45001).
Design and roll out role-specific Health & Safety training programs (kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, F&B, entertainment, etc.), advise Hotel General Managers and operational teams on correct application of H&S policies and legal requirements, manage the department budget, optimize preventive resources, and promote a strong safety, health, and wellbeing culture aligned with employee experience and the Group’s ESG standards.
Qualifications
University degree and Master’s Degree in Health & Safety covering all three specialisations, or a legally equivalent qualification.
Proven experience managing teams and coordinating external providers in multi-site and multinational environments.
Minimum 10 years of experience in Health & Safety roles, with at least 5 years in a corporate or senior leadership position, preferably in hospitality, tourism, or labor-intensive operational environments.
Additional training in management, leadership, and compliance.
Strong technical knowledge of Spanish and European Health & Safety legislation, hospitality-specific risk management, management systems (ISO 45001), audits, performance indicators, labour relations, and interaction with works councils.
Spanish at native or bilingual level, fluent English, Portuguese desirable;
international certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) and experience in hotel openings, refurbishments, wellbeing, psychosocial risks, and organisational health considered strong assets.
