The Role
The primary responsibility of the Third Party Device Engineer is to maintain and routinely update a catalog of Non-Standard Accessories and custom designed equipment and components. This catalog will identify parts available for sale in each country where M-I conducts business. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Master Data Management, Trade Compliance, Regulatory Compliance, Finance, and Pricing to resolve challenges in the MI Part Creation process, known as the Change Request/Change Order (CR/CO) process.
What you will do
* Submit CR/COs to modify existing parts, such as changing suppliers, expanding sales regions, and reinstating discontinued parts.
* Assist the Global Design Engineering Manager in ensuring follow-up actions for CR/CO requests are completed.
* Collaborate with teams to resolve CR/CO issues.
* Coordinate with Equipment Sales and Customer Service to ensure proper processing of customer orders for Non-Standard Accessories.
* Maintain and update the Non-Standard Accessories Catalog(s).
* Work with Product Divisions and sales leadership to add custom-designed parts to the catalog.
* Serve as the primary contact for existing Non-Standard Accessories, providing technical support and guidance to the sales team.
* Develop and implement pricing strategies for Non-Standard Accessories with the Global Design Engineering Manager.
* Ensure proper setup of accessories in SAP for sale in designated regions.
* Identify issues in SAP related to part setup and status.
* Educate vendors on new regulations and requirements in collaboration with the Global Sourcing Manager.
* Assist Pre-Sales teams with CR/CO and accessory inquiries.
* Identify opportunities to substitute standard products for custom parts.
* Support other Design Engineers as needed.
* Contribute to process improvements in the Design Engineering department.
* Act as a champion of Design Engineering processes.
What you need to have
* Technical background with the ability to interpret technical documentation.
* Knowledge of product commercialization is a plus.
* Fluency in English.
* At least 5 years of professional experience or an undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
* Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or similar preferred.
* Self-management skills without direct oversight.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to multitask effectively.
* Strong documentation skills.
Computer Skills
* Experience with SAP is a plus.
* CAD design experience is a plus.
