Overview
Broadway Malyan is a global architecture, urbanism and design practice dedicated to creating cities, buildings and places that will provide a lasting legacy. We are looking for a SENIOR ARCHITECT with a minimum of 10 years of experience, with the ability to lead large-scale projects in the Concept, Schematic Design, Detail Design and Site Supervision phases, coordinating internal and external teams and managing the relationship with the client. As a Senior Architect, we would be looking for you to oversee and manage projects and teams, but you will also be involved in the production of projects. You would be managing the design process, scheduling workflow and outputs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality designs which align with our ethos and vision. You’ll be supported by a local Associate and Director of Architecture alongside our wider practice support team. You will be working primarily in the retail sector, but not excluding other sectors, in a variety of geographies, including internationally, and we would like you to play a wider role in building your network and profile in Madrid, supporting us in job acquisition and business development. Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage projects and teams across the Concept, Schematic Design, Detail Design and Site Supervision phases.
* Coordinate internal and external teams and manage the relationship with the client.
* Lead the production of project outputs and ensure delivery of high‑quality designs aligned with the practice ethos and vision.
* Manage the design process, schedule workflow and outputs, and ensure delivery within agreed timelines.
* Collaborate with a local Associate and Director of Architecture and broader practice support.
* Work primarily in the retail sector, with potential involvement in other sectors and international geographies; contribute to business development and client relations in Madrid.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum 10 years of experience, with the ability to lead large-scale projects in the concept, schematic design, detail design and site supervision phases.
* Experience in retail, shopping centres and mixed-use projects.
* Good command of English; fluency in Spanish required.
* Residence in Madrid and ability to travel.
* Commercial awareness and knowledge of Spanish Building Regulations with excellent attention to detail.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
* Proactive, self-motivated, team player with strong communication and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
