Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Spanish, Fresno.
Department
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures values study of a language as a means of enabling students to participate in oral and written communication, gain cultural knowledge, connect with other disciplines, and develop insight into language and culture.
Position Summary
The successful applicant will teach Spanish. Candidates qualified to teach Spanish 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A, 4B or other required courses may be considered.
Instructor Responsibilities
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode specified (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Conditional Appointment
Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with qualifications within the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358). For a Master’s degree the monthly rate ranges from $5,507 to $6,677 for full‑time teaching (15 WTUs). Starting salaries typically fall near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

The temporary faculty pool is ongoing, with positions filled as needed. Eligible candidates must be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains for two academic terms; reapplication is required thereafter.
Required Qualifications

* Master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field.
* Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
*
* Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
* Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
* Evidence of professional Spanish translation work.
