Overview
The Financial Analyst II participates in financial analyses and assists with projects related to asset liability management (ALM) modeling and reporting, ad hoc modeling, financial analyses, budget variance analysis, budget planning, product and branch profitability, and profitability analyses of existing and potential new products and services.
Responsibilities
* Prepares financial reports including ALCO (Asset Liability Committee), ALM, and ad-hoc reports.
* Documents studies, reports, and analyses in ALM, forecasting, budget and planning, branch and product profitability, channel and member profitability, new branch/business planning, and variance analysis.
* Reviews analyses and makes recommendations to management.
* Performs ad-hoc analysis/data mining on large datasets to support strategic decisions.
* Recommends cost-saving, profit-generating, and pricing strategies to management.
* Creates and maintains procedures for financial modeling systems and critical tasks.
* Assists in conducting special studies and surveys, summarizing potential financial decisions, and preparing recommendations on policies, pricing, profitability, and processes.
* Calculates key metrics and ratios for the credit union/banking operations.
* Participates in cost studies, accounting analyses, and contribution analyses of services and departments.
* Contributes to Credit Union ALCO meetings and may represent finance in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Performs cash management activities and supports investment portfolio activities, including documentation, reporting, and monitoring.
* Works within the team to improve processes and impact.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field from a four-year college or university.
Experience:
* Minimum 2 years of applicable financial/analytical experience.
* Preferred 4 years of experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills & Abilities
* Knowledge of financial and accounting principles, asset/liability management, investments, budgets, and cost analysis.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proficiency with analytical tools like Tableau or R Studio and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Understanding of credit union/banking metrics, ratios, and trends.
* Experience analyzing large datasets and interpreting financial data.
* Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, and capable of working under pressure.
* Experience with ALM software is a plus.
