We know both from our personal experiences and from research that if you like one book by an author you will probably like other books from that author as well. As the Author Data Quality team our goal is to ensure that books and authors are properly linked so that customers can discover books by an author they are interested in. The challenge is in coming up with complete and accurate list of book author links starting with multiple partial and erroneous sources.
The Author Data Quality team is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Software Development Engineer to be part of a single thread engineering team focusing on Authors. You will have the opportunity to build systems and programs that will impact millions of authors and author followers. The SDE will work with other engineers, SDMs, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers and UX designers to enable authors building an active author to follower community on Amazon that provides tons of unique benefits to followers that will build a demand fly-wheel for Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Dev Engineer III, you will
- Solve difficult engineering problems with elegant and practical code.
- Design and build solutions on wide-variety of technologies; backend services, AWS-based distributed systems, web applications
- Closely work with Product managers in scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
- Be a champion for the customer and ensure their needs always come first.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise;
- Mentor junior engineer and provide technical guidance to your peers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience in professional, non-internship software development
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience in development in the last 3 years
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
