UNSW Rural (Wagga Wagga campus) offers world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at our rural campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery, supporting relationships with clinicians and the local medical community. The program aligns with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program, delivering excellence in rural medical education and student experience.

Role
Lecturer (EF) Rural – Wagga Wagga
- Employment Type: Part-time (7 hours a week)
- Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026
- Remuneration: $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading (as appropriate)
- Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must have full rights to work in Australia.

Details of the role
UNSW’s Education Focused (EF) roles enable academics to specialise in education and pursue initiatives to enhance the educational experience of students. The Lecturer, Rural will be committed to high-quality teaching with a focus on rural medical education and the Application of Basic Sciences for Clinical Competency or Patient Centered Interdisciplinary Healthcare.
The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching and supervision for the undergraduate program
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and small group teaching
- Contribute to recruitment and interview training for rural students under REAP
- Engage in teaching philosophy development to inspire student learning
Qualifications
- BMed/MBBS (or equivalent) and Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College, eligible for medical registration in NSW, or an equivalent health discipline with ongoing AHPRA registration
- Proven experience in practical face-to-face teaching at undergraduate level, with a commitment to rural medical and health education
- Ability to articulate and develop a teaching philosophy that supports student learning
