Are you an experienced Controls System Manager / Director who enjoys combining hands‑on technical depth with people management? This is an opportunity to lead a team of talented System Development and Controls Engineers working on advanced mechatronic automation solutions used in large-scale fulfilment and delivery operations.
In this role, you will guide engineering teams that develop and improve automation systems across areas such as packaging, labelling, sortation, material handling and conveyor technologies. You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, controls engineering and operational excellence. This is not a traditional IT management role. We are looking for someone with a strong background in industrial automation, PLC controls and electromechanical systems, who can lead engineers while staying technically close to the work.
Responsibilities
* Lead, coach and develop a team of Controls / System Development Engineers
* Drive the development and deployment of innovative automation solutions
* Translate business and operational needs into technical project scope
* Work with electrical diagrams, control diagrams, PLC logic and industrial machine systems
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, product teams and engineering teams
* Ensure high‑quality delivery, strong documentation and continuous improvement
* Support both new product development and improvements to existing systems
Qualifications
* Degree in Automation Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Computer Science, System Development or similar
* Strong experience in controls engineering / industrial automation
* Experience leading, coaching or managing engineering teams
* Solid understanding of PLCs, control systems, electrical diagrams and industrial machinery
* Knowledge of software/hardware development practices such as code reviews, source control, build processes and testing
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
* CoDeSys PLC programming experience
* Experience with AWS or cloud‑connected industrial systems
* Background in packaging, labelling, sortation, robotics, warehouse automation or material handling
* Experience working in an international engineering environment
This role is idóneo for someone who has grown from Senior Controls Engineer, Lead Automation Engineer, PLC Team Lead, Mechatronics Lead or Automation Engineering Manager into a broader leadership role.
