About The Role
The Institut de Física d'Altes Energies (IFAE) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the ATLAS Instrumentation Group at CERN. The role is part of IFAE's efforts on the ATLAS detector upgrade programme in preparation for the High‑Luminosity LHC (HL‑LHC).
Responsibilities
* Leading and participating in the construction, electrical qualification, and performance characterisation of HL‑LHC detector modules for the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) and/or Inner Tracker (ITk).
* Developing and optimising assembly and production techniques, including quality control and validation in laboratory settings.
* Conducting detector testing and characterisation both in the lab and at external test‑beam facilities (e.g., CERN or DESY).
* Supporting and mentoring PhD students and technical staff involved in related instrumentation activities.
* Contributing to R&D applications for future HEP detectors as well as detectors beyond high‑energy physics according to interests.
Qualifications
* Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or be near completion) in Physics, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with relevant experience in silicon detector R&D, semiconductor testing, readout electronics, and programming (e.g., Python, C/C++).
* A strong command of English and ability to work in an international collaboration are required.
