**Description**
IMDEA Materials has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research position on computer vision and machine learning approaches to microstructure recognition and analysis applied to steels.
The Advanced Characterization Program aims at developing toos for the automatic microstructural analysis of advanced steels with complex microstructures. One of the approaches relies on the use of advanced characterization tools and correlative microscopy (optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction, nanoindentation, etc.), in order to enrich the information content for the same field of view and to capitalize this multimodal information.
**Requirements**:
- Demonstrated experience in advanced microstructural characterisation of metallic alloys, preferably steels.
- PhD in materials science, metallurgy, physics, or a related discipline
- Experience in image analysis is recommended (thresholding, filtering, registration, etc.)
- Command of written and spoken English is a prerequisite.
**Conditions**
- 2 years post-doctoral contract.
- Full-time contract including social security coverage.
