Can Gelat | Selva, Mallorca Full-time, year-round | Certified organic & regenerative estate
Why this role is differentMost agronomists in larger wineries are confined to a single specialism. At Can Gelat, the role is intentionally broad — because we believe the best viticultural decisions come from people who follow the grape from soil to bottle. You will work alongside our Vineyard and Winery Manager and a small team of vineyard workers on the agronomic work across our 30-hectare estate, contribute to vinification choices in our new winery, and — if it interests you — work together with our hospitality team to engage with the people who eventually drink the wines. The scope adapts to your ambition.
About Can GelatCan Gelat is a certified organic and regenerative wine estate set in one of the most beautiful locations on the island. Across 30 hectares we cultivate native Mallorcan varieties — Manto Negro, Callet, Giró Ros — alongside international grapes such as Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell. Our wines are already recognised by leading critics: our Can Gelat Gran Vi finished 3rd place among the top magnum wines of Spain in the 2026 Akatavino ranking (blind-tasted by wine professionals), and our Giró Ros and Callet red has been awarded 91 points by Guía Peñín. We see this recognition as confirmation that our terroir and our way of working are heading in the right direction — and as motivation to keep improving.
Beyond wine, the estate is also home to olive oil production and beekeeping. We have made deliberate choices that shape our daily work: we keep mature trees among our vines for biodiversity and shade, and we work mechanically rather than with herbicides. Our ambition is not to produce more, but to bring out the very best our terroir can offer. We are currently building a new state-of-the-art winery, equipped with the best modern technology to support our ambitions in precision, quality and sustainable vinification. Alongside this, we are developing our hospitality and tasting programme. This is a meaningful moment to join — there is real space to shape what comes next. For more about who we are and what we do, visit follow us on Instagram @bodegacangelat.
What you will do:Viticulture & vineyardWorking with the Vineyard and Winery Manager and our small team of vineyard workers on the seasonal cycle of the estate: pruning, soil and cover crop management, tractor work in the vineyard, monitoring vine growth and disease pressure, organic plant protection, canopy work, and harvest. Contributing ideas on quality, balance and the long-term health of the vineyard. Working with both indigenous Mediterranean varieties and international grapes across the estate's parcels.
Cellar & vinificationActive involvement in harvest reception, fermentation, and the early decisions that define each vintage. Working with state-of-the-art equipment in our new winery, contributing to vinification protocols, hygiene standards, bottling and production records.
Hospitality & estate (optional)For candidates who enjoy this side of the work: collaborating with our dedicated hospitality team to host tastings, welcome guests, and help shape the storytelling of our wines and our place. This part is genuinely optional — we adapt the role to your interests.
