Temporary faculty members in the Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies will teach undergraduate courses including Intro to Chicano Studies, Chicano Artistic Expression, and other needed courses to meet student educational goals.
Responsibilities
Temporary faculty are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies. They will prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Compensation
Salary is based on qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a master’s degree holder, the monthly salary range is $5,507‑$6,677 for full‑time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum and will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Temporary Faculty Pool
The pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed. Applicants may need to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains for two academic terms; participants wishing to stay beyond that must reapply.
Qualifications
Education
A Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies, Chicanx Studies, Latinx Studies, Multicultural Education, Latin American Studies (with emphasis in Literature, Art, Gender Studies) or a closely related field.
Experience
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level evidenced by prior teaching experience, evaluations, or other evidence.
Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Experience with online and hybrid instruction.
