The Role
Location: This position is fully remote. All Oyster positions allow you to work from home, but the role requires you to be based within –2 / +3 UTC.
Role Summary
The People Experience we create is critical to Oyster's success. It inspires and motivates employees, drives the company toward its goals, fosters a positive high‑performing culture, and ensures ethical and responsible operations. As a Senior People Experience Specialist, you will build operational solutions and programs that support our business objectives. Your responsibilities include automating and enhancing People Operations workflows, capturing and analyzing People data, supporting international employees, and leading people programs.
You will also foster effective communication and engagement. You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure employees are informed, aligned, and connected, and that our people programs reinforce Oyster’s culture.
As a data‑driven builder and innovator, you are unafraid to try new things, build new processes, consistently innovate existing ones, and test creative new strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the broader People team and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver People Experience initiatives that align with business strategy and goals.
Partner with the People team to refine the full employee experience and build supporting processes.
Build People Programs with purpose, utility, and a focus on customer experience.
Automate and improve People workflows throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, compensation and reward, and performance management.
Lead Hibob optimization and subsequent change management.
Identify areas for improvement in existing People programs and operations, and propose and deliver new initiatives to address gaps.
Act as an escalation point for complex, global queries from Oyster employees in support of People Operations services.
Champion a culture of up‑to‑date people databases so that reports and insights continuously improve the workplace.
Capture and analyze People data to define key metrics and build dashboards that tell a data story.
Write clear, succinct articles for the knowledge base to help employees navigate programs and initiatives.
Develop and deliver internal communications that align with Oyster’s goals and support global teams, including All Hands production.
Serve as an architect for AI integration within the People Team, identifying automation opportunities and leveraging LLMs to personalize the experience at a global scale.
Support junior team members in championing People Operations best practices.
Core Requirements
Strong experience working within a highly collaborative and cross‑functional Senior People Operations or People Experience role.
Proven capability and enthusiasm to mentor and support others in becoming People Ops professionals.
Experience working as a HiBob (or a similar HRIS) administrator with focus on continuous improvement, optimization, and automation of processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build cross‑functional relationships.
Confident communicator and storyteller capable of owning the narrative for the People Team, including writing Slack updates and hosting All Hands.
Exposure to broad HR principles and practices, ideally at a global level.
Ability to handle sensitive information independently and awareness of data privacy.
Data‑driven mindset: ability to capture, analyze, and interpret data to inform decisions.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently while collaborating in a kanban environment.
Strong project management skills with ability to define, craft, and deliver work in an agile environment.
Experience with project management, documentation and collaboration tools such as Asana, Notion, Loom, and Miro.
French‑speaking.
Experience working within a globally distributed company.
