The ChemSynBio Group

Join our dynamic ChemSynBio team, where we harness chemical and synthetic biology to create biotherapeutics and biomedical tools, focusing on brain diseases and brain transport ( We aim to pursue groundbreaking research and grow together!

Project Overview

Current treatments against brain diseases have very low efficacy due to the incapacity of most drugs to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Our project OBGate, funded by the prestigious European Research Council (ERC-2022-STG #101077370), seeks to understand receptor-mediated transport across the BBB and develop new strategies to deliver large therapeutics into the brain with unprecedented efficiency and selectivity.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop high-throughput screening cell-based BBB models.
* Utilize advanced molecular biology, proteomics and microscopy to study transcytosis.
* Engineer recombinant proteins on brain endothelial cells to enhance transcytosis.
* Collaborate closely with projectand group researchers.
* Contribute to an inspiring atmosphere and engage in team activities.
* Supervise students and prepare scientific publications.

Offer conditions

* Competitive postdoctoral salary commensurate with experience.
* 3 years of funding with support for additional funding applications (e.g. MSCA).
* Training opportunities and international conference attendance.
* Space for creativity, with dedicated mentorship and team support.
* Possibility to supervise PhD and MSc students.

Proposed starting date : September 2025

Requirements

* PhD degree in molecular and cell biology or related field.
* Valuable experience : BBB cell models, cell trafficking, proteomics, bioinformatics, synthetic biology, protein engineering, advanced microscopy, experiments with mice.
* Skills : Proactivity, creativity, strong motivation for high impact research, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and fluency in English.
