What is the purpose / mission of the position?
As a Node.Js Backend Engineer, you will have opportunities to help modernize our backend applications, automate processes, and improve efficiency. You will work with cutting-edge technologies at one of the largest financial institutions in the Netherlands, leading important changes as NN aims to become a leading digital retail bank.
What you are going to do?
As our Node.Js Backend Engineer, you will evaluate our technological landscape, design and implement automation, analyze and fix bugs, integrate systems, and support existing deployments. You will also promote a tech-driven culture by being an ambassador and helping teams embrace new ways of working that combine client focus with state-of-the-art software development.
Your Main Responsibilities Include
* Defining and evolving the architecture of our solutions
* Developing and maintaining solutions with coding standards
* Contributing to strategic approaches in Savings, Investments, and Bank Assurance to ensure future-proofing
* Creating automation and integrations using software
* Collaborating with the Engineering Guild and facilitating community contributions
* Conducting code reviews and making final decisions as editor-in-chief
* Coaching and mentoring other engineers across domains
Who You Are
Experienced in building high-quality software, capable of working well with business and engineering teams. You are outspoken, innovative, and knowledgeable about GIT, pipelines, package management, and testing. You may also have some knowledge of React.
* 8+ years of experience as a Node.Js backend engineer
* Excellent knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript
* Proficiency with REST and GraphQL APIs
* Understanding of CI/CD and a DevOps mindset
* Knowledge of React is a plus
Who You Will Work With
You will be part of a small, cross-functional Agile scrum team, working closely with engineers and functional maintainers, engaging in technical discussions to refine user stories for a better customer experience. The team is known for its informal, friendly culture.
