Overview
Oversee and evaluate safety risks within the Operations Engineering area, in accordance with regulatory standards and internal protocols, to ensure the highest level of operational safety and compliance. Also, conduct and manage compliance audits and inspections within Vueling's AOC (Air Operator Certificate) operations and contracted external service providers.
Main Accountabilities
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain high safety standards within the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas, ensuring all safety protocols are up-to-date and effectively implemented.
* Facilitate the implementation of safety protocols in the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas, ensuring seamless departmental cooperation and that all safety measures are consistently applied.
* Provide timely and accurate information on safety concerns impacting the company, enabling informed decision-making and proactive risk management.
* Promote a culture of safety within the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas through training sessions, meetings, newsletters, and other communication channels, ensuring that all staff are aware of safety practices and procedures.
* Ensure that all operations within the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas adhere to established safety standards and protocols, regularly reviewing and updating policies to reflect current safety requirements.
* Distribute relevant safety data and updates through courses, meetings, intranet, email, and publications, enhancing overall safety knowledge and awareness among staff.
* Ensure the IOCC and Operations Engineering operations comply with the latest national and international safety regulations and best practices.
* Maintain effective communication and collaboration with regulatory bodies like Enaire, Eurocontrol, EASA, and suppliers such as Lidos and AIMS, ensuring compliance and addressing any external safety concerns.
* Identify root causes of safety incidents, implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, and enhance overall operational safety.
* Encourage IOCC and Operations Engineering staff to report safety incidents.
* Participate in compliance audits, ensuring all safety protocols and procedures meet regulatory standards and identifying areas for improvement.
* Work with the RS to develop and track key safety metrics for the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas, providing data-driven insights to improve safety performance.
* Contribute to a dynamic and comprehensive audit schedule that addresses emerging risks and compliance requirements.
* Verify that external service providers are compliant and capable of maintaining operational standards, safeguarding integrity.
* Communicate audit outcomes effectively, supporting informed decision-making at higher management levels.
Main Responsibilities - Tasks
* Manage the IOCC and Operations Engineering safety programs.
* Coordinate necessary safety measures across departments.
* Monitor and report on safety issues to the RS.
* Develop and maintain safety awareness programs.
* Create and enforce a safety policy for the IOCC and Operations Engineering areas.
* Provide safety information to IOCC and Operations Engineering personnel.
* Stay updated on industry safety trends.
* Liaise with external safety authorities and operators.
* Investigate safety incidents and conduct risk analyses.
* Promote the reporting of Operational Safety Reports (OSR).
* Convene Safety Action Groups (SAG) meetings.
* Support Compliance Auditing Functions When Required.
* Assist in the design and monitoring of safety performance indicators (SPI).
* Conduct planned and ad-hoc audits and inspections based on the audit program presented to the authority.
* Compile and issue detailed audit reports, documenting findings and any nonconformities.
* Follow up on audit findings, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and verified.
* Manage non-conformity records and track the status of corrective and preventive actions.
* Deliver training and support to other auditors and relevant staff on audit processes and compliance requirements.
* Conduct supplier audits, ensuring external providers meet regulatory and company standards.
* Participate in the preparation and presentation of audit findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
* Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the AOC.
Education
* Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Management, or equivalent technical qualifications.
* Alternatively, a licensed pilot or cabin crew member with significant IOCC and / or Operations Engineering experience.
* Comprehensive understanding of EASA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
* Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles and practices.
* Knowledge of flight dispatch processes and IOCC / Operations Engineering operations (flight planning, air traffic control coordination, and the use of dispatch software).
* Familiarity with audit processes and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
* Skilled in programming with Python, SQL, VB is desirable.
* Knowledge in the use of BI software such as Tableau.
Experience
* 2 years of experience in IOCC and / or Operations Engineering roles.
* An additional 1 year of experience to become autonomous in the role, capable of performing safety audits and compliance checks.
* Experience working in an SMS or Compliance environment to address safety issues and implement corrective actions.
* Experience conducting compliance audits and inspections is essential.
* Experience managing non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.
