Geotechnical Engineer, EMEA Pre-Construction

The EMEA Data Center Construction team seeks a Geotechnical Pre-Construction Manager with experience in geotechnical studies and assessments for industrial or commercial projects. This role involves supporting the development of the EMEA AWS network by reviewing geotechnical studies, supporting site feasibility, collaborating with design and cost teams, and leading geotechnical discussions with external consultancies and contractors.
The successful candidate will act as a primary liaison among Design Engineering, Construction, and other teams during project planning, providing guidance on geotechnical issues related to cost, schedule, and constructability. Key responsibilities include reviewing site studies, supporting design engineering, conducting site visits, preparing reports, and managing project documentation.
Daily activities involve ensuring project execution aligns with timelines and budgets, communicating across departments, negotiating technical solutions, and managing project risks and issues. The role may require up to 20% travel across the EMEA region.
About the team
Our Pre-Construction team is a multicultural, multinational group focused on creating innovative products and transforming cloud computing. We develop design standards, produce high-quality documentation, and serve as a key link between Real Estate, Design Engineering, and Construction teams from site selection through construction.
Minimum qualifications
* University Degree (B.S. or Master’s) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related sciences/technology.
* Extensive experience in mission-critical civil works or industrial facilities, preferably in international environments.
* Knowledge of industry safety standards, quality standards, and local safety regulations.
* Proficiency in BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and related software.
* Professional fluency in English.
* Strong communication skills suitable for engaging with both frontline and executive managers.
* Willingness to travel up to 20% across the EMEA region.
Preferred skills
* Project management experience across multiple projects.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and related tools.
* Experience in client-facing roles within relevant regulations.
* Additional language skills are a plus.
