How does your job as Breeder Watermelon at Rijk Zwaan?
You will be part of our Watermelon breeding team based in Spain in the station Almería. The main goal is to develop Watermelon varieties for many different market segments worldwide in close contact with the market specialists that are present in different parts of the world. As Breeder Watermelon you will be working on new traits, innovation concepts, disease resistances and fruit quality traits. In addition, you are involved in:
- Planning and execution of crosses.
- Designing and evaluating variety trials around the world in our stations and with clients
- Phenotyping and data analysis to support decision-making within the breeding program.
- Close coordination with Crop Management, Plant Pathology, Seed Production and internal stakeholders to ensure pipeline progress.
- Implementing last technology developments of the company
- - Taking part in strategical discussions about the breeding program
Requisitos:
What is your added value?
You are a real teamplayer and ability to communicate well in an interpersonal skills. You are proactive, creative, adaptable and solution oriented. You like to take initiative. You have eye for detail and are practical and pragmatic. You work in a structured manner and have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills. Next to this we can find the following on your CV:
- A finished education on MSc level in plant breeding
- 2–5 years of experience in plant breeding (experience in cucurbits is an advantage).
- Willingness to travel and to perform field work
- Proactivity and self-motivation
- Know-how of product development
- Affinity with data analysis
- Good level of English and Spanish languages
