The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:
KAC Instructor – teaching dance, basketball, and other activity courses (see University course catalog for class offerings)
Lecturer – instructing specialized Kinesiology courses/labs (see University course catalog for class offerings)
Student Teaching Supervisor – coaching credential students in their last semester and ensuring readiness for teaching careers
Other classes as needed to fulfill current students' educational goals
Instructor ResponsibilitiesTemporary faculty must adhere to University and system-wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Responsibilities include preparation, delivery, proctoring, grading, and coordinating lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Conditional AppointmentAppointments are contingent on budget, enrollment, and collective bargaining provisions ("Order of Work"). Faculty are required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
CompensationSalary is commensurate with qualifications, based on CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a Master's holder teaching full‐time (15 WTUs), the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month;
starting salaries are near the minimum. Adjustments are made per assigned WTUs.
Anticipated SemesterThe temporary faculty pool remains continuously open and is filled as needed. Positions vary per semester. The pool is valid for two academic terms;
reapplication is required beyond that period.
Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026
Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Psychology, Athletic Training, or related field.
Experience
Commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
For KAC instructors: specialized experience in the taught topic.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Physical Education credential (preferred for student‐teacher supervision).
National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (preferred for strength and conditioning instructors).
Evidence of commitment to teaching excellence, such as prior teaching experience, evaluations, or related evidence.
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
Expertise in a closely‐related Kinesiology discipline.
