What will you be doing
As a System Designer, you will specify and design multidisciplinary functions used worldwide in our logistics systems. Your designs are implemented by a team of specialists with whom you collaborate closely. You will partner with platform and product architects and system integration teams, and together with your expert team, you will carry responsibility for the final release(s) of your multidisciplinary module and its functions.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for a multidisciplinary functional design of a module, from initial requirements set by the Product Architect to the delivery of the tested function to the integrator.
* Work in a multidisciplinary team of specialists in Mechanical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanics, PLC, and Software. Design functions that fit within Vanderlande’s technology standards and reference architecture, or define requirements for missing parts.
* Manage requirements by writing requirement specifications, design specifications, test plans, and reports using Vanderlande’s tooling (e.g., Polarion, Enterprise Architect, Jira).
* Use Model-Based Design techniques for functionalities involving complex parcel movement and flow control, defining requirements and making concept design choices based on models.
* Apply system design methodologies and techniques such as PSDM, 8D, DFMEA, Model-Based Design, Design for Six Sigma, and Numerical Calculations.
What do we ask from you?
You possess a pragmatic, result-driven attitude, eager to learn and curious about new technologies both within and outside Vanderlande.
* You hold a relevant master’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering (System & Control, Dynamics & Control), Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or have a proven track record with comparable knowledge and abstraction level.
* You have 3-5 years of relevant experience in designing and engineering multidisciplinary industrial systems.
* You can maintain an overview and operate on various levels of abstraction.
* Experience with Robotics and AI technology is a plus.
* You have experience with the product development cycle in relevant domains.
* You can effectively communicate and persuade stakeholders to reach agreements.
* You are a systems thinker, capable of understanding the big picture and delving into details.
* You are comfortable with uncertainty and unknowns.
* Experience with Model-based design using Matlab/Simulink is a plus.
* You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
