The research group “Epidemiology of Mental Health Disorders and Ageing” led by Dr. Josep Maria Haro is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work within the Epidemiology of Youth Mental Health research line, alongside Dr. Rodrigo Antunes Lima.
We offer a 12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal. The primary responsibility of this position is to support two EU-funded projects: the e-Intervention Enhancing Mental Health in Adolescents (IMPROVA project; ) and the ePlatform for Promoting Health in Schools (ePro-Schools; ).
The IMPROVA project aims to co-design, pilot, evaluate, and scale a modular eHealth intervention platform to improve mental health and wellbeing, facilitate early detection of mental health issues, and prevent common mental disorders in adolescents. It will be implemented in schools and involve components for adolescents, parents, teachers, and school staff, based on materials developed and tested in over 20 projects by the consortium. The platform will be co-created with stakeholders, including adolescents, parents, teachers, school staff, schools, and policymakers, through a collaborative process. The project involves an international, interdisciplinary team from fields such as medicine, education, psychology, sociology, public health, economics, UX design, computer science, and more. After pilot testing, the platform will be evaluated through a cluster randomized controlled trial in secondary schools across France, Germany, Romania, and Spain, involving 8,000 adolescents. A comprehensive evaluation will include effectiveness, implementation, economic, and social return on investment analyses. The project aims to develop evidence-based, scalable interventions to promote adolescent mental health, empower families, and provide tools for schools and communities to reduce stigma and improve mental health outcomes.
The ePro-Schools project involves co-designing, piloting, and evaluating an evidence-based modular eHealth platform to promote physical activity, healthy eating, and reduce sedentary behavior among adolescents. It includes a thorough co-creation process with surveys and focus groups involving adolescents, teachers, school administrators, and policymakers. The platform will contain modules for adolescents, parents, teachers, and school staff, with content applicable both within and outside school settings. The project will evaluate data from schools with socially disadvantaged adolescents through randomized controlled trials and will develop transferable practices and guidelines for scaling the platform, involving policymakers and stakeholders.
