Compensation & Benefits
Hiring Salary: $6,455/month.
- This is a full‑time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non‑exempt position.
- The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to participate in the fee waiver education program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration of a Division I Equestrian program.
- Ensure the health, wellbeing, and academic success of student‑athletes.
- Develop the competitive nature of the Equestrian program.
- Assist in maintaining the sport budget.
- Schedule and organize practice and competitions.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules.
- Develop and enforce written team rules and expectations.
- Recruit quality student‑athletes who intend to graduate.
- Monitor and maintain academic progress and eligibility of team members.
- Support the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics.
- Promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university.
Key Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a history of rules compliance.
- Coaching philosophy and teaching concepts compatible with the Head Coach and Athletic Department’s vision.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with student‑athletes, administrators, support staff, and community groups.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting associations.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching at the collegiate level or in USEF/USHJA A‑rated horse shows.
