WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead phenotypic evaluation data analysis and interpretation of pest and disease resistances for discovery projects and commercial variety advancement.
* Plan and coordinate activities with a dedicated team, ensuring efficient resource utilization and alignment with strategic goals.
* Operate in modern infrastructure, adhering to best biosafety and HSE practices.
* Foster a collaborative environment by sharing expertise and providing guidance for team development.
Accountabilities
Operational Management:
* Oversee daily Trait Assessment operations, including staff management and equipment maintenance.
* Develop and optimize protocols for high-quality resistance screening.
* Implement and refine methods for capturing and delivering biotic data to support decision-making.
* Define and validate standards for Trait Assessment processes within Syngenta's quality system.
Technical Expertise and Innovation:
* Provide scientific leadership to shape functional strategy.
* Identify opportunities to enhance Trait Assessment platforms and methodologies across crops and locations.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement in technologies, methods, and procedures.
* Build and maintain relationships with external experts and research collaborators.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
* Analyze complex phenotypic data and prepare reports to support leadership decision-making.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators.
* Participate in global technical networks and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
Qualifications: WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
* Experience leading projects and teams.
* Hands-on experience in pathology, preferably in horticulture.
* Proven skills in problem-solving, experimental design, and data analysis.
* Experience performing multiple trials simultaneously in laboratory, field, and controlled environments.
* Expert knowledge in plant pathology, crop pests, diseases, and trait assessment platforms.
* Strong communication and influencing skills.
Education
* Masters or PhD in Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Biology, or Entomology.
Languages
* Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
