Photo Editor Wider Image
We envisage the successful candidate being based in Madrid, Spain.
Reuters is looking for an experienced photo/multimedia storyteller with project management and multimedia production experience to join its Wider Image desk, focusing on long-form photo stories.
This role will expand the Wider Image team, which works remotely with photographers worldwide to produce impactful, insightful, and competitive visual stories for media clients.
The Photo Editor will report to the Senior Editor, Wider Image and Special Projects.

About the Role
As Photo Editor, Wider Image, your responsibilities include:
1. Managing project production across all time zones and regions.
2. Introducing fresh ideas to news gathering and presentation, enhancing storytelling efforts and industry relevance.
3. Producing and editing photo-driven/multimedia stories.
4. Creating quick-turnaround photo stories for breaking news.
5. Learning to build microsites on our platform.
6. Collaborating with reporting teams from story ideation to research and news gathering, ensuring all elements are included.
7. Curating Year-End Pictures of the Year packages.
8. Producing impactful photo and story features based on viral or significant images.
9. Promoting diversity among photographers, topics, and subjects.
About You
You are suitable for this role if you have:
1. Demonstrable experience in visual journalism.
2. Fluency in English;
additional languages are a plus.
3. Experience handling large volumes of photos with specific criteria.
4. Experience with multimedia editing (audio, video, text).
5. Ability to develop talent and foster inclusive teams.
6. Some newsroom experience working with editors and field journalists.
7. Excellent news judgment.
8. Digital fluency and adaptability to new tools.
9. Experience creating multimedia stories for digital platforms.
