Based in Barcelona (hybrid role). Your Mission Lead the Global People Labor Relations agenda with a strong focus on Spanish labour law, ensuring full compliance while balancing legal risk with business needs. Act as the internal expert on employment labour relations and legal matters, providing pragmatic and strategic advice on complex labour topics (collective bargaining agreements, employee relations cases, potential labour‐relation conflicts) and ensuring consistency and governance across the organization. Build and maintain effective relationships with work councils and employee representatives, supporting sustainable business outcomes. Contribute to the alignment of people policies and provide selective support on international labour matters. Your Major Accountabilities Global compliance, governance and risk management. Define and establish global frameworks to manage labour relations across the organization with support of local people departments. Monitor the external labour landscape (legislation, case law, collective agreements, trends) and new Group labour regulations to ensure alignment with legal compliance requirements across jurisdictions. Provide labour‐relations advisory support while working closely with local People Managers and external legal advisors. Ensure full compliance with labour laws, internal policies and governance frameworks across Spain, Greece, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Middle East and Australia. Drive continuous improvement of HR processes and policies related to labour relations. Lead and prepare internal audits and legal reviews, identify potential labour risks early and implement mitigation plans. Participate in cross‐country HR or transformation projects involving labour‐related topics. Works Council & Trade Union Management Lead all interactions with Works Councils and employee representatives, ensuring transparent, structured and compliant engagement. Own the full lifecycle of collective negotiations (preparation, strategy, negotiation, documentation, communication and implementation). Build and maintain constructive relationships with unions, balancing business needs with employee representation dynamics. Ensure effective preparation and documentation of information and consultation processes under Spanish labour regulations. Define and implement the labour‐relations strategy for Spain, Greece, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Middle East and Australia, ensuring alignment with business priorities while safeguarding legal compliance and minimising risk exposure. Act as the go‐to expert on selected international markets, providing pragmatic, business‐oriented guidance on complex labour topics. Assess, lead, oversee and execute complex employee‐relations cases, including disciplinary procedures, investigations, grievances and terminations. Ensure robust documentation, consistency and legal defensibility of all decisions. Provide hands‐on support to People Department and managers in sensitive cases. Prepare for court proceedings and coordinate with external counsels on litigation and pre‐litigation scenarios. Business advisory on the labour‐relations impact of potential changes in the structure while ensuring new initiatives are legally compliant, well documented and executed in line with internal governance. Assess risks and define scenarios and cost implications (dismissal exposure, negotiation strategies, etc.). Business Partnering & Leadership Support Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing clear and actionable recommendations on labour and HR matters. Lead labour trainings inside the organisation. Ensure a consistent and fair approach to HR decisions across the organisation. Data, Insights & Continuous Improvement Work closely with People Insights Department to provide labour‐related KPIs (absenteeism, disciplinary cases, litigation trends, employee climate indicators). Translate insights into preventative actions and strategic recommendations for leadership. Drive initiatives to improve employee‐relations climate and reduce operational/legal risks. Qualifications Minimum 8–10 years of professional experience in Labour Relations / Employee Relations, with solid exposure to Spanish labour law and proven experience in international cases. Qualified Law degree specialised in Labour/Employment law, or a business postgraduate qualification (e.g., master's in labour law, HR management, MBA). Experience in pharma industry. Background as a qualified lawyer with proven experience in labour law (in‐house or law firm) in international cases. Demonstrated track record in collective bargaining and negotiations with Works Councils / Trade Unions, strong execution‐oriented profile with direct involvement in employee actions and complex labour negotiations, capable of managing complex employee‐relations cases (disciplinary actions, dismissals, litigation support) and advising senior stakeholders on legal risk and labour strategy. Exposure to multinational environments and coordination with international HR / Legal teams. Fluent in Spanish and English.
