The Role
The Role: Zyte is seeking a Senior IT Engineer with strong Business Systems and Automation experience to architect and operate the internal technology ecosystem that powers our global company.
This role treats internal IT as an engineering discipline, with code-first automation as the default approach. You will design and operate the backbone of Zyte’s internal SaaS platform, integrating systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, finance systems, HR platforms, engineering tools, and collaboration software into a coherent, automated architecture. You will also play a key role in introducing AI-assisted and AI-driven workflows across the company, enabling teams to move faster through intelligent automation, copilots, and LLM-powered internal tools.
What You’ll Do
* Business Systems Engineering: Hands-on experience administering and integrating business-critical SaaS systems, such as Salesforce or HubSpot; customer support platforms (Zendesk, Intercom, etc.); billing or subscription systems (Stripe, Chargebee, etc.); collaboration and engineering tools (Atlassian, GitHub, Notion); and design of reliable workflows and data synchronization across multiple SaaS platforms.
* Engineer Internal Automation Systems: Write code and build automation tooling (not just configure SaaS products). Typical work includes writing automation scripts in Python, Go, or similar languages; building internal CLI tools; developing small internal services; building event-driven automation pipelines using APIs and webhooks; and developing internal bots and ChatOps integrations.
* Build and Maintain SaaS Integrations: Design and implement reliable, API-driven integrations between business systems (CRM automation across Salesforce/HubSpot; syncing customer, billing, and product usage data; automating entitlement provisioning across internal systems; connecting support, product, and CRM workflows).
* Develop Internal Tools: Build internal tools to improve operational efficiency (internal CLI tools, automation services for onboarding and access management, data synchronization services, dashboards and automation services for business operations, ChatOps for Slack or internal platforms).
* Introduce AI into Internal Workflows: Identify opportunities to use modern AI technologies to automate or augment internal operations (AI-powered internal support assistants, LLM-driven knowledge retrieval, automated ticket triage and resolution, AI copilots for internal SaaS workflows, automated analysis of operational data).
* Design the Internal \"IT Golden Path\": Create automated and developer-friendly workflows for employees and teams (onboarding/offboarding pipelines, identity and access provisioning automation, self-service automation for common tasks, internal developer-friendly APIs for business systems).
* IT Service Management & Operations: Provide high-level IT support for a global, remote workforce with emphasis on root-cause analysis and a person-first service approach.
* Security & Compliance Engineering: Ensure continuous adherence to ISO frameworks; implement endpoint security measures (including MDM like JumpCloud), enterprise password management, and conduct access audits to enforce Zero Trust principles.
Requirements
* 8+ years of experience in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Systems Engineering, or Platform Engineering; experience in a senior engineering role responsible for internal business systems and automation in a modern SaaS or tech company.
* Scripting Mastery: Strong scripting and programming ability in Python, Go, Bash, Node.js.
* Cloud Infrastructure: Solid experience operating GCP & AWS environments (VPCs, IAM roles, EC2/S3).
* API & Integration Engineering: Strong experience with external APIs including REST and GraphQL; OAuth flows; webhook-based event systems; SaaS SDKs and integration frameworks.
* Operating Systems: Deep knowledge of macOS and Linux environments.
* Identity & Security: Experience with SSO/SAML/SCIM provisioning, identity lifecycle automation, and Zero Trust access models.
* Compliance & Governance: Experience with security/compliance audits (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
* Experience working in remote-first or globally distributed environments is strongly preferred.
* Preferred Skills: AI-assisted automation (LLM APIs, AI copilots, semantic search, automated AI-driven ticket triage).
* Containerization: Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for running internal IT microservices.
* SRE Mindset: Experience applying SLIs/SLOs to internal IT services.
* Who You Are: Autonomous, People-Centric, AI-Driven, Security-Minded, Growth-Oriented.
Benefits
* Total Flexibility: We are 100% remote. Work from where you are most productive.
* Innovation Culture: We encourage automating manual tasks.
* Cutting Edge: Work with a modern, open-source-centric tech stack.
