The System Engineering team is looking for a new colleague responsible for database management. Your tasks will include:
1. Operating, maintaining, and extending our highly available, heterogeneous platform.
2. Ownership of the conception, technical design, installation, configuration, and clustering of our PostgreSQL database systems.
3. Ensuring high performance through monitoring, profiling, database analyses, and query and schema optimization.
4. Serving as a consultant for software development colleagues and a partner for the database architect.
5. Automating tasks using Ansible and Puppet, owning the entire stack from software to server hardware.
6. Curating knowledge about our systems to support the team effectively.
Our environment is 80% private and 20% public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure). Technologies include Dell, HPE, VMware, Ansible, Barracuda, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Elastic Search, Kafka.
Requirements include:
* At least 4 years of experience in database administration, especially in PostgreSQL and other RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL).
* Knowledge of Ansible, Puppet, and experience operating heterogeneous server farms.
* Familiarity with containers, cloud environments, and testing your own code.
* A proactive approach to challenging tasks, seeing opportunities for improvement.
* Linux proficiency; ability to administrate Windows systems if needed.
* Self-driven, well-organized, and motivated to work both independently and within a team.
