The Role
As an International Laser Service Engineer, you will be a trusted technical partner to world‑leading research institutes and industrial customers, ensuring complex automated laser systems perform flawlessly from day one and throughout their lifecycle.
You will:
* Install, commission, align, and service high‑performance free‑space laser systems, both on‑site internationally and via remote support.
* Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues spanning optics, mechanics, electronics, and software, using structured fault‑finding and preventive maintenance approaches.
* Conduct root cause analysis on recurring or critical failures and implement robust, long‑term corrective actions.
* Work directly with customers, applications teams, and R&D engineers to deliver fast, professional, and confidence‑inspiring support.
* Maintain accurate service documentation, including diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and system optimisation recommendations.
* Feed real‑world service insights back into engineering teams to drive continuous product and process improvement .
What We’re Looking For
* Degree‑level education in Physics, Engineering, Photonics, or a closely related discipline.
* Proven hands‑on experience with lasers or optical systems in laboratory, research, or industrial environments.
* Solid practical understanding of mechanical assemblies, electronics, software, and system integration, with confidence troubleshooting at component and system level.
* Clear, professional communication skills in English, written and spoken.
* Experience with LabVIEW, Python, or similar control and automation tools is highly advantageous.
* Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally as part of a global service function.
