Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with 5–8 years of experience to join our platform engineering team. The candidate should have advanced proficiency in backend languages and frameworks, strong expertise in database design and optimization, and proven experience with microservices architecture, event sourcing, and supporting live production environments. Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, containerization, and orchestration is required. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools is expected. The role involves owning the analysis, design, development, and support of platform projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of the iGaming business and experience in handling incidents within structured processes are strong advantages.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices.
* Own the full lifecycle of platform projects, from analysis and design to deployment and support.
* Optimize databases, write complex queries, and ensure system scalability and performance.
* Implement DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
* Deploy and manage containerized services using orchestration platforms (e.G., Kubernetes).
* Monitor and support live production environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
* Lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and guide best practices.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product, QA, and operations, to deliver robust solutions.
* Participate in stakeholder meetings, providing technical input and ensuring alignment with business needs.
* Handle production incidents, following incident management processes to ensure rapid resolution.
Requirements
* 5–8 years of experience in backend engineering, ideally within complex, high‑availability systems.
* Advanced proficiency in backend languages and frameworks.
* Strong expertise in database design, optimization, and writing complex queries.
* Proven experience with microservices architecture and event‑driven systems.
* Hands‑on experience with containerization (e.G., Docker) and orchestration (e.G., Kubernetes).
* Proficiency with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and automated testing.
* Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.G., Grafana, ELK, Prometheus).
* Ability to independently support and troubleshoot live production environments.
* Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to propose effective solutions.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
* Knowledge of the iGaming industry and incident management processes is a strong advantage.
