Overview
Job title: Junior Research Engineer (RE1).
Organization: Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS).
Key Duties
Find ways to efficiently present results: visualization graphs, exploratory web interfaces, etc.
Contribute to the development of front-end platforms and associated APIs for current research projects in the Life Sciences department, in close collaboration with back-end engineers.
Contribute to ensure appropriate user experience at the developed front-ends.
Interact with cloud providers and HPC resources to distribute workloads.
Work with other developers at INB/ELIXIR-ES and other ELIXIR nodes to implement agreed standards and methodologies.
Contribute to ongoing projects in the INB/ELIXIR-ES units, including flagship projects like the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) and the EUropean federation for CAncer IMages (EUCAIM).
Requirements
Education
: Software Engineer Degree or equivalent Bioinformatics-related degree.
Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience
:
At least 1 year of professional experience in a similar role.
Experience in cloud deployments.
Experience with advanced software packaging procedures.
Experience in software quality management.
Experience working with Unix/Linux systems.
Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience
:
Experience developing, generating and using software containers (e.g., Docker and Singularity).
Experience in developing project technical specifications.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); at least basic knowledge of Spanish.
Competences
:
Ability to understand scientific literature and software documentation.
Ability to communicate scientific results.
Conditions
Location: BSC within the Life Sciences Department.
Contract: Full-time (37.5h/week) with a competitive environment, flexible hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support.
Duration: Open-ended contract tied to project and budget duration.
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per the collective agreement.
Salary: Competitive according to qualifications and cost of living in Barcelona.

Curriculum Analysis: evaluation of experience, degree, training, and relevant information.
Weight: 40 points.
Interview phase: assessment of technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and personal attributes.
Weight: 60 points (minimum required: 30/60).
The recruitment panel will include at least three people with representation of women.
