Project Overview, Tasks & Accountabilities
This role focuses on system architecture, functional modelling, and physics‑based performance definition of airborne weapon systems and targeting algorithms. The responsible engineer will design and define the behaviour of the weapon and targeting system prior to software implementation. Deliverables will serve as the requirements and foundation for the downstream software simulation team to implement within a simulator environment.
* Model the behaviour and architecture of airborne weapon systems from an engineering perspective.
* Design and develop mathematical and physical models for subsystems such as sensors and weapons.
* Develop and validate aiming algorithms (ballistic, guided, predictive, stabilized).
* Specify system functions, expected behaviours, performance constraints and interfaces.
* Analyse targeting accuracy, reaction time, error propagation and engagement logic.
* Produce documentation as input for the downstream software team.
* Collaborate with simulation software engineers to ensure consistency and harmonisation with customer expectations.
Required Skills
* Knowledge of aircraft combat basics and symbology.
* Experience in physical and functional modelling of airborne or embedded systems (background in dynamics, kinematics and ballistics modelling).
* Knowledge of system architecture, platform dynamics, mission symbology.
* Ability to produce documentation such as system requirements, system functional requirements, system specifications, interface control documents and testing procedures.
* Experience developing targeting, aiming and compensation algorithms is desirable (EO/IR, radar, laser).
* Prior experience on airborne platforms is a strong asset.
General Requirements
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Physics or a related field.
* English proficiency, written and spoken.
* Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to operate within multidisciplinary environments.
Valuable Experience
* Work experience in defence platform or tactical simulation projects.
* Knowledge of aeronautical and military standards and compliance processes.
* Experience with airborne sensors (EO/IR, radar, laser designators, etc.).
Tools Knowledge
* MATLAB/Simulink and Sensor Fusion.
* Python.
