Summary of role
This role involves managing all aspects of daily operations, from job creation, processing, and monitoring, to delivery to the final consignee. Responsibilities include preparing customs declarations for non-EU shipments, monitoring flight arrivals for intra-EU shipments, preparing documents requiring clearance, providing sending instructions, contacting airlines for recovery and replenishment, and utilizing various IT systems for communication within the network. The position requires fulfilling all obligations accurately, promptly, and cost-effectively, including the use of EDI for customs declarations.
Responsibilities
The candidate may coordinate and perform tasks such as handling import/export shipments, preparing customs documents, applying incoterms correctly, managing pre-shipment inquiries, communicating with customers and other offices on customs instructions, following up on shipments, entering charges in contact with accounting, reporting missing shipments, and maintaining customs archives. External communication with clients, customs, regulatory bodies, airlines, and handling agents, as well as internal communication within the company, is essential. The role also involves specialist clearance for certain goods, adhering to internal procedures, and complying with relevant laws and regulations.
Shift and Location
The position requires shift rotation, and candidates may be asked to work on public holidays. The location is in Coslada, Madrid, and applicants must have their own vehicle.
Education
Fluency in Spanish and English is required; additional languages are beneficial. Experience in the logistics sector, especially in customs brokerage and freight forwarding, is preferred. Experience with customs documentation for biopharmaceutical products is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other IT programs is necessary.
Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate follows procedures diligently, can handle projects, provides relevant information, communicates effectively, works independently and as part of a team, multitasks, prioritizes, uses initiative, remains calm under pressure, is friendly and polite, attentive to detail, dependable, and trustworthy. Organizational skills and issue resolution are important. Flexibility for weekend and last-minute shifts is required. Previous pharmaceutical or time-critical freight forwarding experience is preferred.
