AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Position OverviewThe Solution Architect (Europe / Africa / Asia) is responsible for designing gateway architectures, integration patterns, and technical workflows that deliver robust, scalable satellite–to–ground connectivity across multiple regions. This role ensures that all gateway solutions meet defined performance, scalability, reliability, and operational readiness requirements while supporting regional deployments and long‐term service expansion.
As part of the Service Delivery organization, the Solution Architect collaborates closely with Gateway Project Managers, Gateway Delivery teams, Service Activation, Engineering, and Field Support. Together, they ensure that gateway designs are technically sound, efficiently deployable, and operationally sustainable throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia.
This position plays a vital role in enabling high‐performance, reliable, and scalable gateway solutions across these regions. The Solution Architect ensures that designs not only meet immediate project objectives but also contribute to the long‐term growth and stability of satellite–to–mobile services.
Key ResponsibilitiesGateway Architecture & Solution Design
Design end‐to‐end gateway architectures supporting satellite–to–mobile connectivity across multiple regions.
Define integration patterns spanning satellite payloads, gateways, transport, core networks, and OSS platforms.
Ensure architectures support scalability, redundancy, resiliency, and regional growth requirements.
Technical Feasibility & Design Validation
Validate technical feasibility of proposed gateway solutions against performance KPIs and capacity targets.
Review and approve gateway designs to ensure compliance with global standards and regional constraints.
Identify architectural risks and propose mitigation strategies early in the delivery lifecycle.
Integration Guidance & Configuration Standards
Guide gateway integration activities across engineering, vendors, and delivery teams.
Define and maintain configuration standards, design templates, and reference architectures.
Ensure consistent implementation of gateway designs across markets.
Performance, Interoperability & KPI Assurance
Ensure gateway solutions meet defined performance KPIs, interoperability expectations, and service requirements.
Validate that designs support throughput, latency, availability, and persistence targets.
Support troubleshooting of complex architectural issues impacting gateway performance.
Operational Readiness & Lifecycle Support
Ensure gateway designs are aligned with long‐term operational requirements, including monitoring, alarms, and maintenance.
Support operational handover by providing architecture documentation and design rationale.
Contribute to continuous improvement of gateway architectures based on operational feedback.
Cross‐Functional & Regional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Gateway Project Managers (EMEA), Global Gateway PMs, Service Activation, and Field Support teams.
Act as a technical authority for gateway architecture decisions across Europe, Africa, and Asia.
