Overview
The vacancy for an Assistant Station Manager at Rijk Zwaan. The Assistant Station Manager is responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of crops and facilities. This includes leading day-to-day activities of the station and rental locations: preparation of greenhouse compartments, sowing, transplanting, nutrition, irrigation, crop protection, disease control, climate control, crop management, general farm maintenance, and rotation of crops. The position also oversees maintenance of equipment and greenhouses. This role will manage a large number of temporary workers as well as a substantial number of fixed employees, requiring proven leadership and strong organizational skills. The work is performed in collaboration with the Station Managers and the rest of the farm team. Priority crops are tomato, melon, watermelon; experience with most of these crops is desired.

Qualifications
* Master’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, or horticulture
* Knowledge of seed business and plant genetics (desirable)
* At least 2 years of experience managing a farm in agriculture, seed business, vegetable production, etc.
* Ability to coordinate crops technically
* Strong interest in product knowledge
* Strong interest in people development; team-oriented
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Highly motivated and able to work independently
* Fluent in English
