At Mediguide we are looking for a Software Engineer (Mid+)
\n
To keep building our technology team. If you are motivated by building technology that impacts real medical decisions, in an international and regulated environment, and being part of shaping a team from its early stages, this could be your place.
\n
Our Purpose
\n
At Mediguide we help people around the world make better-informed medical decisions when they face complex, severe, or chronic diagnoses. We have been integral leaders in Medical Second Opinion (MSO) since 1999. We work with more than 50 world-class medical centers and collaborate with international insurers to connect their members with top-tier specialists.
\n
Our impact is measurable
\n
- 79% of our cases modify the treatment course.
- 3% change the initial diagnosis.
- For every $1 invested in MSO, $2.63 is saved in direct medical costs.
Each of these percentages represents a person who avoided an unnecessary intervention or gained access to a better therapeutic alternative. Technology is a critical piece for making this happen safely, efficiently, and at scale.\n
Why Fall in Love with Mediguide?
\n
We are at a strategic moment:
\n
- We are building our in-house technology team.
- We are reducing dependency on external agencies.
- We are iterating and improving our current implementation.
- We have new projects that will start from scratch.
- We want to incorporate automation and AI into clinical and operational processes.
The challenge is not only technical. It is organizational and strategic. The person joining will not be an isolated executor: they will be an active part in building standards, processes, and technical culture.\n
What Will Your Mission Be?
\n
As a Software Engineer (Mid+), your mission will be to strengthen internal technical execution and help build the foundations of our future engineering team.
\n
You will work directly with the Head of Tech. Initially, the focus will be highly hands-on:
\n
- Backend development in JavaScript / TypeScript.
- AWS Lambda-based services.
- API integrations.
- Management and evolution of workflows in Zendesk.
- Production incident resolution.
- Code review of external providers.
- Continuous improvement of quality, testing, and maintainability.
But the impact goes beyond code. Your work will enable:\n
- Faster response times for members.
- Automation of internal processes.
- GDPR and HIPAA compliance assurance.
- Internal tools that support global operations.
- Laying the groundwork for future AI initiatives (automatic translation, medical text anonymization, structured data extraction, etc.).
Initially, technical decisions will be discussed and agreed upon with the Head of Tech. As you gain context and autonomy, you will take on greater responsibility over systems and decisions in your area.\n
What Do We Need from You?
\n
We are looking for a Mid+ profile with autonomy, technical judgment, and willingness to grow in an environment where technology impacts real medical decisions.
\n
Requirements
\n
- Experience developing software in JavaScript / TypeScript. A large part of our current and future services are built on this stack. We need someone who can contribute immediately without a long language learning curve.
- Experience building APIs, integrations, or backend processes. Our work is based on orchestrating information between insurers, members, medical centers, and local partners. Integrations and proper data handling are at the core of the system.
- Ability to work autonomously once goals are defined. We are a small team under construction. There will be no constant micromanagement. We need you to move forward responsibly when the framework is clear.
- Technical judgment to argue decisions and evaluate trade-offs. Many decisions involve balancing speed, maintainability, security, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA). We are not looking for blind execution, but structured thinking.
- Ability to detect problems and propose improvements. We are in a build phase. Many things can be improved. We want someone who sees opportunities and does not wait for everything to be assigned.
- Genuine interest in growing toward greater technical responsibilities. The team will evolve. We want someone who aims to assume more ownership over time, not stay in a purely execution role.
It will make us very happy if you also have:\n
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure. Part of our infrastructure is cloud-based, and we value profiles that understand how to deploy and operate services securely and at scale.
- Experience with AWS Lambda (Serverless). We use serverless architecture in several services and it will continue to be an important development line.
