About the business unit: We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues—such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation—to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it, our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

We deliver a wide variety of engineering and advisory projects in support of transportation sector challenges. We are committed to ensuring highways are resilient to climate change, safeguarding the environment for future generations, and providing asset management advice. We have ambitions to grow into the Spanish market and support infrastructure development for public and private clients. In the UK, we continue to support High Speed 2, have been appointed by National Highways to mitigate pollution from highway drainage outfalls as part of their 2030 Water Quality Programme, and have secured large highway schemes such as the Lower Thames Crossing and the A9 – Tomatin to Moy, among others. We are reinforcing our technical teams in response to these opportunities.
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Drainage Engineer with experience in both the Spanish and UK markets, and a solid understanding of drainage design, to work with us part time or full time and strengthen our global team. This is a fantastic professional opportunity for driven individuals to drive our growth in Spain and lead a range of projects in the UK and across the world. You will be able to make a difference by:
* Identifying opportunities to pursue in Spain
* Leading a team of drainage design engineers in the design of sustainable drainage infrastructure on prestigious projects
* Contributing to innovative grey and blue-green solutions and climate change resilience
* Embracing and enhancing digital drainage design delivery solutions
Key responsibilities
* Liaising with potential Spanish clients and identifying projects to pursue
* Lead a team of drainage engineers on prestigious projects across the world
* Be responsible for the delivery of projects, coordinating project teams to ensure excellent technical delivery within budget and programme
* Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports, proactively managing design risk to deliver constructable solutions
* Represent the company in meetings, both virtually and in person, building strong client relationships
* Deliver projects in close partnership with clients and contractors
* Contribute to technical excellence and commercial success through forecasting and risk management, and the production of bids and proposals
* Work to Mott MacDonald’s global standards and review Health, Safety and Welfare alongside environmental impact
* Be present in our Madrid office a minimum of 3 days a week

Essential
* Sólida experiencia técnica en diseño de drenaje
* Experiencia en proyectos en España y con clientes españoles
* Experiencia en preparación de propuestas exitosas en España
* Capacidad para entregar proyectos técnicos complejos y apoyar el desarrollo de personal
* Experiencia en gestión de pequeños equipos
* Fuertes habilidades de comunicación y colaboración con equipos multidisciplinarios
* Buen conocimiento de las responsabilidades de los diseñadores bajo la CDM Regulations
Desirable
* Experiencia en diseño conforme al Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
* Experiencia en gestión de activos y priorización de mantenimiento
* Disponibilidad para viajar a otras oficinas y obras
