Context And Mission BSC-CNS, a leading research organization, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Junior IP Lawyer/Legal Officer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reviewing contracts and/or agreements, a deep understanding of intellectual property law and a willingness to learn about currently evolving legal frameworks and their application to new technologies. You will also work closely with other members of the legal team under the supervision of the Senior IP Legal Officer and General Counsel within the Management Department.

Key Duties
* Review, draft, and negotiate research contracts, master services agreements, framework agreements and similar documents, with a focus on IP clauses. Must be able to analyse, detect and address issues in any related documentation, which might be of a technical nature.
* Offer legal counsel and guidance on intellectual property matters such as open source software licenses, data mining, artificial intelligence, trade secrets, academic and commercial licenses, as well as Creative Commons licenses.
* Collaborate and work closely with cross-functional teams, in particular IPR/Technology Transfer, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
* Advise the different departments on legal queries as needed, including summarising and communicating legal concepts and helping assess different levels of legal risk related to intellectual property.
* Conduct seminars and trainings on IP law, including software license compliance, open source software licenses, data mining and artificial intelligence.
* Be able to detect personal data and data sharing issues early on and escalate accordingly to ensure compliance.
* Take on other legal tasks requested by the Senior IP Legal Officer and General Counsel as needed.
Requirements
* Education
o Degree in Law
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
o 1 - 2 years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a similar role.
o Fluency in English, Spanish, and Catalan is essential (both spoken and written).
o Excellent skills in Microsoft office and Power Point.
o Knowledge and experience in intellectual property law and law of new technologies (IT Law).
* Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Prior in-house experience at a public scientific organization, research development organization or technology industry is preferred. Public sector experience is also desirable.
* Competences
o You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal personnel.
o You are very organised, accustomed to working at a fast pace and juggling many different tasks. You are able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You are proactive, taking the initiative when needed.
o You enjoy operating independently but love being part of a collaborative team.
