We are in search of a UI Technical Artist to join our team in Madrid, Spain, with solid experience in Unreal Engine 5, specializing in the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of UI systems in video game projects. This role is crucial for integrating visual designs and interactions into the engine, ensuring technical quality and smooth gameplay experiences.
You will participate directly in the development of Turok: Origins, as well as other unannounced projects currently in production.
We are looking for a technical profile with a high level of autonomy, a focus on optimization, and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments.
Responsibilities
- Implement user interfaces in Unreal Engine 5 using UMG and Blueprints.
- Integrate artistic designs and UX functionality into efficient, optimized workflows.
- Work closely with UI Artists, UX Designers, and Programmers to ensure responsiveness, consistency, visual quality, and performance.
- Participate in the analysis and resolution of technical issues related to UI.
- Document workflows, systems, and best practices for long-term maintenance.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience of at least 2 years in Tech UI for video games, working with Unreal Engine (preferably version 5).
- Proficiency in UMG, Blueprints, and basic knowledge of C++ applied to UI.
- Experience in optimizing interfaces for different hardware platforms (PC and consoles).
- Ensure assets/UI are within memory and CPU constraints. Profile performance and the costs of UMG/Slate/C++ and texture memory.
- Know-how and experience creating materials for UI realms (Unreal UI materials, OpenGL shaders...).
- Understanding of best practices for technical integration, lightweight animations, and UI rendering.
Nice to have
- Bachelor of Arts in UI or interface design.
- Previous experience in commercial video game projects.
- Ability to rapidly prototype and conduct A/B testing of UI solutions.
- Additional knowledge of UX and usability in video games.
- Technical portfolio or examples of work implemented in Unreal Engine.
