The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant to help in different tasks related to the research lines developed in the Plasmodium vivax and exosome research group (PVREX).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Working with long-term P. falciparum / P. knowlesi and short-term P. vivax in vitro cultures
* Working with primary and immortalized cell lines
* Working with proteomics and transcriptomics
* Functional assays to identify receptors-ligands in malaria as mediated by extracellular vesicles
SPECIFIC DUTIES
* Assist in grant writing
SKILLS
* Statistical analysis (GraphPad Prism)
* Imaging analysis (FlowJo, ImageJ)
* Genomics and proteomics software
* Basic knowledge of R for statistical analysis will be a plus
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
* Working with P. falciparum and P. vivax
* Experience in cell culturing
* Experience in FACS, confocal microscopy, and high content imaging
* Experience in proteomics / transcriptomics and bioinformatics analysis
LANGUAGE LEVEL
* Proficiency in English
CONDITIONS
* Duration : 12 months
* Contract Type : Full time
* Salary : According to ISGlobal internal salary scale

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases :
* Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation to assess the person's skills and CV.
* Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed, any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
