Cloud Operations Architect, Enterprise Support EMEA South

Cloud Operations Architects (COA) drive our customers’ creative and transformative spirit of innovation across all technologies - including Compute, Storage, Database, Big Data, Application-level Services, Networking, Serverless, Deployment, Security, and more. This is not a sales role but an opportunity to be the principal technical advisor and ‘voice of the customer’ to organizations ranging from start-ups to large enterprises in both the commercial and public sectors.

The Role

As a COA, you will help craft and execute strategies to drive our customers’ adoption and use of AWS services - including EC2, S3, DynamoDB & RDS databases, Lambda, CloudFront CDN, IoT, and many more. Your technical acumen and customer-facing skills will enable you to effectively represent AWS within a customer’s environment and lead discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.

You will provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices, and proactively keep your customers’ AWS environments operationally healthy. Developing close relationships with your customers will help you understand their business and operational needs, as well as technical challenges, enabling them to achieve maximum value from AWS. The role may require travel of 10% or more as needed.

AWS Global Services includes experts from across AWS who assist our customers in designing, building, operating, and securing their cloud environments. Customers innovate with AWS Professional Services, upskill with AWS Training and Certification, optimize with AWS Support and Managed Services, and meet their objectives with AWS Security Assurance Services. Our expertise spans AWS Partners, AWS Sovereign Cloud, AWS International Products, and the Generative AI Innovation Center. Join a diverse team of technical experts across many countries dedicated to helping customers achieve more with AWS cloud.

Key job responsibilities

You’ll advise on solutions, provide technical guidance, and advocate for the customer:

* Ensure AWS environments remain operationally healthy while reducing cost and complexity.
* Build trusting relationships with customers, understanding their business needs and technical challenges.
* Utilize your technical expertise and customer obsession to drive discussions on incidents, trade-offs, and risk management.
* Consult with a range of partners from developers to C-suite executives.
* Collaborate with AWS Solutions Architects, Business Developers, Professional Services Consultants, and Sales Account Managers.
* Proactively identify opportunities for customers to gain additional value from AWS.
* Conduct detailed reviews of service events, monthly & quarterly metrics, and pre-launch planning.
* Solve diverse problems as customers migrate workloads to the cloud.

1. Experience with operational parameters and troubleshooting for three (3) of the following: compute, storage, networking, CDN, databases, DevOps, big data and analytics, security, applications development in distributed systems.
2. Experience in technical engineering.
3. Bachelor's degree.
4. Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings.
5. Experience as a technical lead in enterprise or customer-facing environments.
